How long does insurance company have to respond to a claim?

Posted by admin on July 31, 2009

Was in wreck w/semi-truck in Oct.. Driver took pic of wreck and brought back w/him. His insurance will not respond to lawyer. How long to they have to respond. If anyone knows, about average amount a trucking company will pay. They found out I have nerve damage to right leg-may not ever be able to return too work. Thanks for any input.

If you have a lawyer it’s their job to answer these questions for you. However, in the meantime I would suggest checking with the insurance commissioners office in the state where the accident happened. Most states have what is called a "Fair Claim Practices Act" or something similar. That should outline what the allowable time frames are for the trucking company’s insurance company to respond. If a claim has been reported to an actual insurance company they normally will have 30 days to respond to accept/deny the claim or request additional information from you.

Many trucking companies are self-insured or have huge liability deductibles which means the claim may not have been reported to an actual insurance company yet.

Good Luck

What insurance agency has the cheapest rates for full coverage car insurance?

Posted by admin on July 31, 2009

I need some cheap full coverage car insurance if you know a company that has cheap rates let me know please!

I was able to save money through a free on-line quoting service at http://gsx1.com/InsuranceComparison.html
They had several links. All I did was fill out their quote request and received back a lot better rates then what I was paying.
I would suggest you try more than one quote before you settle with anyone, the service is free and there’s no obligation so you might as well try it.

if i research insurance quotes will my current provider be informed?

Posted by admin on July 31, 2009

I have two speeding tickets on my record that i would rather not have flagged for my insurance company, as they have not audited me yet for it…. but i want to look up quotes on motorcycle insurance! will my insurance provider be notified if i start looking for motorcycle insurance on otherwebsites like gieko and progressive? im just looking for ballpark estimates…. not looking for a set rate

Your current insurance will not be informed that you are researching other insurance quotes and/or discover your speeding tickets from that process. Your insurance company will probably discover your speeding tickets about 60 days before your renewal (most insurance companies do this). If you are currently insured by a standard company, it is very likely that your insurance will be cancelled at that time or you will at least have a large rate increase.

In terms of some of the other comments regarding credit, neither of the comments are correct. Insurance companies pull what is called an insurance score which is a numerical formula based on your credit. However, it is not a credit report. The insurance company does not use this to determine if you are insurance "worthy" or to determine your payment plan. According to actuarial science the better insurance scores translate to the better risks and the more impaired scores translate into higher risk profiles. Stated another way–on average clients who have impaired insurance scores produce more claims. Therefore the insurance companies use the insurance scores as one of the factors (other factors would be your driving record, accident record, mileage, type of car, etc.) that allow them to adequately price the risk to produce a profit.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!

How much for basic auto insurance in Canada?

Posted by admin on July 31, 2009

I am driving my car from BC to Waterloo, ON. back for school.
I was wondering, in this case, which province’s auto insurance I am supposed to get. Can I drive around in Ontario for more than four months with ICBC insurance? Or Do I have to get the new Ontario insurance? In BC I am still N, which is equivalent of G2, and I currently drove for closely three years. Another thing was, how much would the basic insurance cost a month? Is there any big difference between BC and Ontario?

The best answer you’re going to get to all your questions is from your own insurance people. Call them and ask them. Anyone other than them who gives you a price is guessing. (Maybe an accurate guess, but it’s still going to be a guess.)

How can it be legal for a Medical Insurance Company to deny benefits to a customer?

Posted by admin on July 30, 2009

Isn’t that the whole reason for paying for insurance? Shouldn’t all conditions, ailments, and injuries be covered? If not, then way are we paying into insurance?

Why isn’t their an insurance company out there that can provide this kind of service?

I don’t think the US Government should allow companies to operate that offer insurance and then deny benefits to someone who has been paying for coverage.
Ok just to add, this is not about me, but I work in the medical field and I hate seeing patients that die from not receiving treatments because their insurance companies denied benefits.

An insurance company is out to make a profit for it’s shareholders. It does this by estimating risk and assessing costs predicted to cover the risks and allow for profit.

To do this, they write out contracts, called policies, that lay out what risks they are willing to cover and what limitations apply. If they didn’t do this, they would be cheating their stockholders.

All benefits must have limits. This is because there is a finite pie to pass out. If they payed the multi-million dollars required to service one patient to the limits of modern medical care, they would deplete the very reserve needed to meet their other obligations.

The plain truth is that it is a business like any other. Not a church, not a moral exercise and not without constraints.

Why is my credit ratingscore brought down for getting car insurance quotes?

Posted by admin on July 30, 2009

I’m trying to get auto and renter’s insurance and I do not understand why my credit score is brought down because of this. Can’t they tell I’m not our trying to get several credit cards or lines of credit or loans? How can this be dealt with and changed or stopped? If this is going to happen, how will my credit look in two years when I am ready to buy a newer vehicle?

When someone runs your credit, you lose 4 points from the agency they use. When several people pull your credit within a set number of days, it is assumed that you are shopping and you lose only 1 point for each search after the first one. So if, in one day, 6 companies pull your credit from Equifax, you will lose 9 points from your Equifax score.

what is the best way to be an auto insurance agent and get licensed?

Posted by admin on July 30, 2009

I need a midllife career change. I want to get my auto insurance license and to be trained. What options do I have?

I would call the large carriers, Allstate, State Farm, etc. They will hire a new agent and help you open an office if they think you have what it takes. You can even buy a book of business.
I would pick the company with the best training and the best mentor/sales manager.

How much is car insurance at the cheapest?

I am 17 and I wanted to get a car. I am considering all expenses, so how much would insurance cost per month on average? What about the cheapest one? Why is the cheaper ones worse that the ones like State Farm and Geico?

about $20 a month, but you need many years no claim bonus and liability only. Also you must live in the country.
